"Patti has been a teacher & mentor for me over the past few years. Patti takes the time to get to know people on an individual basis, not a one size fits all. Patti has also supported me through holistic counselling and given me an opportunity to reflect on life and build upon current strengths in a safe and nurturing space. Patti is down to earth and shows empathy and understanding no matter what is being shared. I would highly recommend Patti to anyone looking to explore holistic counselling further. " Casey

"I’ve been attending yoga classes on and off since 1973 and have always loved yoga. However, what I didn’t realise is how much glamour there is in the yoga world and how much I had bought into this. It always seemed to be about who could tie themselves in the best knot and I got tangled up in this race. I witnessed many injuries in the yoga classes and working as a Bowen therapist and was also injured myself. Patti’s classes feel safe and also very healing too, where this wonderful ancient tool for growth has been brought into the modern western world with a beautiful simplicity in a very new and evolved way."

"When I first started doing yoga I had upper back pain, severe lower back pain and plantar fasciitis in my left foot. At that time I was attending a chiropractor, a physiotherapist and reflexologist, and although the exercises they gave me to do helped a little bit, I was still in a lot of pain. I refused to take any medication other then natural supplements. I noticed a difference as soon as I started yoga classes, particularly in my back. I seemed to get a bit better each week; my back was getting stronger again. I found the more classes I did each week, the stronger I got. Now, after four months, I have no back pain and very little pain in my foot. I can lift up my little two year old grandson without being in agony. I also feel happier, stronger and have more energy than I have in years. My husband and family are delighted because I'm back to being my old self again. They can see the change in me because I don't need to keep going for a lie down every few hours just to alleviate the pain. I thoroughly enjoy my yoga classes, I like the variety in the poses and the length of the class. It's just perfect for me. Thank you for all your help."

The focus here is spiritual Integration and self love and self esteem, being more aware of our energy & taking good care of ourselves. We focus on essential foundations and take a closer look at the whole of ourselves - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
A class to learn new skills & tools, practising and building competency.
Energetic Hygiene is the foundational tool for this class. How would you expect to feel if you carried around years’ worth of accumulated debris and toxins? Probably pretty terrible.
Without our being aware of it our auric field (which consists of the physical body, emotional body, mental body and spiritual body) collects and stores all kinds of things: mental debris, emotional residue, negative energy, pollutants, accumulations of old energy that has never been cleared, energy from others and stagnant energy etc. Just as we shower and bathe our physical bodies to keep them clean, so we need to do the same for our energetic bodies. It is essential that we regularly cleanse and clear our system.
If you would like a copy of these tools
"Energy hygiene helps me feel stable and clear within myself as I move through my day, during both favourable & challenging moments. The practice of energy hygiene automatically brings me back to the present moment and increases my self-awareness”
"I use EH [Energetic Hygiene] as part of my morning ritual as soon as I wake up It helps me set the tone to start my day.
"I feel like it’s something I can do that I can control It reminds me to be present It reminds me I am ok.
"It keeps my anchored and supports me It helps to make me feel safe.
"I am very grateful to have this daily practice which continue to help me in different ways every day."

About Patti
I’ve been a Yoga & Meditation teacher since 1983, a coach and mentor (Certificate IV 2009) and trainer of Yoga and Meditation teachers. I was inspired to complete a Diploma of Transformational Holistic Counselling in 2021 to round out the ways I can help people facilitate change and grow. I find that people sometimes come to meditation and yoga, which can be very helpful physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually looking for something else too. Personally, I have found counselling at challenging times in my own life to be very helpful.
“I like to normalise counselling; it is foremost a private conversation, and I like to be genuine and understanding in that relationship”.
If you are keen to further develop self awareness, self esteem and psychological clarity, then coaching and mentoring might be for you.

In 2009 I completed a Certificate IV in Life Coaching & Mentoring with the Global Coaching Academy (GCA). It was a year of training and practicum and it put me through my paces. I discovered I had almost unconscious tendencies to tell people what I thought they should do and or do it for them. I had to really pull back because really I don't know.
This behaviour of mine showed me two main things. I was not wanting people to create and mistake for themselves, and grow and experience and learn, to trust their innate knowing over time to evolve. Secondly, I was not doing enough of that for myself. I was looking to be told what to do and not trust myself. Looking outside for validation. Stay too safe. While nothing is set in stone and sharing experience can be invalubale, and certain tools and practices I know work I can and do pass on. It was my underlying premise, my motives, really my funky self-esteem, I needed to clear and refine.
I'm very grateful to Belinda, the owner and creator of the GCA and fellow students, for helping me see how I could so easily want to do the work for people and feel good about myself for that. The sessions I provide we set up to work for you. You drive the process and are accountable to you. I aim to do less and less. I do jump in with ideas at times, however its about your choices, your work and your learning and success.
You can have a read of people recent coaching and mentoring experiences below. I love coaching and mentoring and seeing what emerges.
Patti
"As a mentor & coach, Patti creates a safe space to talk about my life issues. I know I have been heard & not judged. Receiving encouragement, gently called to take responsibility for my own life. I feel empowered & affirmed to take charge of my own choices & actions. "
"I have been participating in individual mentoring with Patti during 2020 at a personal and professional level. Patti is genuine, down to earth, caring and knowledgeable in her guidance. My work with Patti is something that carries on in-between sessions with a holistic approach, allowing for reflection, self discovery and growth. Mentoring has allowed me to learn so much about myself and others, to stay grounded and on a road of continuous improvement as an individual and as a meditation facilitator. Patti is a wonderful teacher& mentor".

A holistic perspective of what is actually going on and what is the best step forward.
$130, 1 hour 15 minutes
During an initial consultation we explore what it is that you would like to achieve, and where you are currently at with your health and wellbeing. We go through an in-depth exploration of what systems are involved to get a holistic perspective of what is actually going on and what is the best step forward. Family history, personal health history, current medications, and dietary and lifestyle factors are explored. I will review any recent pathology tests. Some physical examinations may be carried out such as blood pressure, nail analysis, and/or iridology. I will then present you with a treatment plan that will be discussed with you. Treatment plans can include dietary and/or lifestyle recommendations, nutritional supplementation, flower essences, or a herbal prescription depending on the needs and abilities of each individual client.
$69, 45 minutes
During a follow up consultation we see how you have been going since your initial consultation. Extra support or changes to the treatment plan will be made as necessary. Any new developments or health concerns can be explored during this time.
$20, 15 minutes
Acute consultations are available for cases where an in-depth analysis is not needed. This includes things such as gastroenteritis, colds, flu, and hayfever. Any complex or multi-faceted cases will need to book in for an initial or follow up consultation. You can also book this if you are wanting a script refill.
"I wasn’t sure about seeing a Naturopath as I have never done anything like it before. My wife booked an appointment with Mel and I was hesitant at first but I also wanted to feel better. After discussing with her how I was feeling and my lack of energy at the end of the day she suggested simple and ‘normal’ things I could change on a daily basis. The additional recommendations just complimented what I was doing and I now feel 100 times better."
Ben Terlick
"I sought Mel’s help with my digestive problems which didn’t seem to improve with general medicines my local doctor prescribed, ie. Nexium, etc. After an appointment with Mel and discussions on my general health and problems I was having, she suggested several natural remedies which have helped no end. I had never attended a session with a naturopath before and was sceptical however now I would recommend anyone to Mel’s business."
Wendy Teale
"I reached out to Mel to try a different approach to help with my concerns about my skin, in particular acne. I tried so many different approaches and spent so much money on various treatments that never resolved the issue. I was amazed at the difference in my skin after a month of following Mel’s recommendations. Not only did she recommend natural remedies but we also looked at my overall lifestyle and diet and she gave me so much valuable information that I have incorporated into my life. I cannot recommend Mel enough, she is amazing!"
Emma Edwards
Did you know... Mel also offers a weekly meditation class?
Flower essences are vibrational medicines that offer energetic support on an emotional and mental level.
$45 (includes 15ml flower essence remedy), 20 minutes
Flower essences are vibrational medicines that provide gentle support for your emotional and mental wellbeing. I work with the Australian Bush Flower Essences, which has a total of 69 essences. During a flower essence reading, I support you as you intuitively choose 7 essences to make up your own individual remedy to take home. Each flower essence embodies both the lower and higher vibration of particular thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Acting as a catalyst, the idea is to highlight the dysfunction (lower vibration) whilst emphasising the ideal outcome (highest vibration) to move towards. Flower essences can be part of a consultation or as a stand alone reading.

Cat Cronin
Cat Cronin creates beautiful artwork. Her art is showcased in the studio as a forest mural and parts of this website (see below). Much gratitude for her allowing Refresh Yoga to showcase her work.
In 1976 I started yoga classes in the city, on Irwin Street, at a school above Gilkenson's Dance Studio. At that time, it was one of a few places for yoga in Perth. A friend and I would jump in her brother's Holden each week after school and drive from Peppermint Grove with our thick padded mat rolls in the back. We loved it. I was fifteen. I had already learned meditation a couple of years earlier. Yoga and meditation have been a life long practise ( maybe longer :) and the value of yoga and meditation for wellbeing is as valuable today as ever. Perhaps more. Culturing calm and connected focus on the inner for outer wellbeing. I'm so grateful to now provide a place for others to jump in their cars ( or walk or cycle) to enjoy more connected, inner time too.
With 46 years practising, training, learning. teaching, ( making mistakes) coaching and mentoring I feel I have learned a great deal about these practises, as well as some leading edge tools that support integrated personal and spiritual growth. Refesh Yoga offers a place for holistic- physical, emotional, mental and spiritual and environmental well being. I invite you to explore and enjoy with us!
Patti teaches:
Patti offers Refresh Counselling.
I am the proud mum of 3 amazing children and I have been practicing yoga on and off for the past 16 years. I attended my first class when my youngest daughter started kindy. I really had little knowledge of Yoga or meditation but had always been intrigued. The experience was not what I expected. I came away from class with a feeling I had not experienced before. I now know that experience was a connection to myself. Over the years my practice was not consistent and I found anytime life became busy, stressful or overwhelming I would get the calling to get back to practice. Life always seemed easier to manage whilst I gave this time to myself each week. I decided to complete my 350 Hour teacher training so that I would have the knowledge to practice if I was unable to attend a class. After completing 12 months of training with Patti at Refresh Yoga and Meditation I was given the opportunity to teach a regular class. My love of sharing the benefits of yoga and meditation and to help others live a happier and healthier life continued. I studied to become an Integrative Nutrition and Health Coach in 2019 and completed additional training in 2021 to be able to offer classes in Yin Yoga and Prenatal Yoga. These slower styles of yoga allow us to explore the benefits of Yoga beyond the physical posture. Its not about getting your body into a pose but getting into your pose so that you can feel into your body and beyond.
Belinda teaches:
"Angie has been a yoga teacher since 2006 and enjoying yoga for more than 3 decades!
She likes to practice in a combination of hatha flow and Iyengar, with alignment and attention to detail paramount in the safe and mindful movement in and between postures. Her instruction is detailed and continually emphasises the need to pay attention to your own body. To enable everyone to access her classes she generally offers 3 options for each posture and encourages participants to really listen to their body and take exactly what they need from the class.
She starts and finishes the class with mindful meditation techniques to help participants really be in the moment during their class time."
Angie teaches:
Hi there
I’m Jane.
I have always loved physical activity. Health and wellness has been important throughout my life. In my 20s and 30s I worked with young people teaching PE in schools and later transitioning to lecturing sports science in colleges.
Keeping fit has been an supportive part of my life. In my early 40s I suffered a back injury that meant I had to change the way I exercise. The Active Refresh workout is designed specifically with modifications so physical limitations and all fitness levels can be accommodated for. During the class you are encouraged to listen to your body, so that you work out safely to your level and capability.
Active Refresh is designed to activate & balance hormones and stimulate metabolism. Through the class you will build strength, muscular endurance & cardio fitness. You work as hard you can, for as long as you can and you rest for as long as you need. Taking rest is actively encouraged in the sessions, so you work out with correct, safe technique.
All fitness levels are welcomed.
In addition to teaching Active Refresh, I am also a qualified massage therapist. My massage space is located across the corridor from the yoga studio. You are welcome to book sports/remedial massage, relaxation massage, Indian head massage, reflexology or a combination of treatments. Enjoy 30, 60 or 90 min appointment. Gift vouchers available for friends & loved ones.
A bit more about me
I have a BSc in Sports Science, Physical Education & Geography, I am a qualified high school Teacher, Massage Therapist, Reflexologist, Aromatherapist, Life Coach, Mentor & Facilitator and hold various sports coaching and fitness qualifications. I am currently completing training to become a Meditation Facilitator.

I always wanted to do a job that felt meaningful to me, where I felt I could give back in some way and make a difference. As a society we are not really taught how (or even encouraged) to look after ourselves – physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually, and we are so disconnected from nature, which we are inseparably a part of. This is evident with the increasing prevalence of chronic disease and autoimmune conditions, and the lack of acknowledgment of the impact that the environment has on our health and wellbeing. I love that my job as a Naturopath is to teach and provide others with tools and support to help them take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing. Even if it is something simple as providing recipes and foods to support their gut health, educating on sleep hygiene and environmental factors, providing herbs to tonify a weakened system, or in some cases just really listening. The knowledge and experience I have gained has been extremely beneficial in my own health journey, and I enjoy being able to assist others in the same way. I am continuously learning and working on my own healing and self-exploration.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy in August 2020 and have now set up my own clinic space from within Refresh Yoga. I also enjoy facilitating a meditation class every Tuesday night at the studio.

I have been practicing hatha yoga for over 35 years. Over the years I have had many teachers, but mostly in the Iyengar linage and style. my practise is influenced by this as well as by various others.
I have been teaching hatha yoga for 10 years and have achieved level 2 status with Yoga Australia.
Practising, teaching and facilitating general hatha yoga classes has become a way of life and is important to me.
My focus is alignment based with a strong sense of anatomy based on sound scientific knowledge. Breathwork plays an important role in my classes and there is usually a pranayama practice. Short meditations are often included in my classes as well. I believe that practising savasana/relaxation at the end of every class is vital to integrating what is learnt and achieved. I love the Sanskrit names of the yoga poses and will use both these and the English names in class.
I started practising yoga 10 years ago. From the first class I attended I knew that yoga was something that would become a big part of my life. I find having a daily yoga practice supports me physically, mentally and emotionally.I enjoy teaching so that the lives of others may also benefit from yoga. My aim as a teacher is to guide students in developing a practice to suit their own unique body. I offer options and modifications throughout my classes because I truly believe that moving your body your way is the right way. Thank you
